| *Please consult the Commissioning Guide designed by "Meet the Composer" for ideas about funding a commission. Please keep in mind, however, that the commissioner does not have exclusive
rights to the commissioned music. The composer retains the copyright,
the right to perform this work with other ensembles, and any royalties collected
through ASCAP or other performing rights societies. The composer also retains
the right to publish and/or record this work subsequently. If published, the
published work will state who commissioned the work. Also, remember that commissioning
a work does not mean that the composer will see to it that the work receives
a performance; it is up to the commissioner to take care of the performance
details, including choice of performers and performance location. Whether a
commissioned work is performed or not, the composer must still be paid. Religious organizations and students are eligible for discounts. |
